The Cathedral of Christ the King's
Conceptual 20-Year Campus Plan

The campus plan for the Cathedral of Christ the King will be discussed in a town hall meeting on Wednesday, January 7 at 7 pm in the Parish Hall. You are warmly invited to attend to learn more about this exciting project. Developed over the last year, this long-term improvement plan for the Cathedral campus is the outgrowth of various efforts during the past decade. Several hundred individuals, including parishioners, clergy, staff and neighbors have helped in this work. This plan focuses on the following areas:

• Green space
• Improved traffic flow
• Additional floor/classroom space
• Renovations to existing campus buildings

A brochure outlining this twenty year plan, its focus, its leadership and the most commonly asked questions has been mailed to all parishioners. Please mark your calendar and join us on Wednesday, January 7 for this very important informational meeting.

Also, you may visit this Web site for frequent updates. Please
send comments and concerns to planning@ctking.com, or call

Father Frank McNameeWe Welcome Father Frank McNamee,
Our New Pastor

It is with great joy we welcome our new Pastor, Father Frank McNamee to the Cathedral parish. Father is a native of Loughrea, Ireland and was ordained to the priesthood in 1995. He has served in the Archdiocese of Atlanta at Holy Trinity parish, St. Pius X parish, Sacred Heart parish in Milledgeville and St. Catherine of Siena parish. Ten years ago, Father Frank, as he likes to be called, was named the founding pastor of St. Peter Chanel parish in Roswell, Georgia.

Father Frank also serves as the Director of Priest Personnel for the Archdiocese of Atlanta and as Dean of the North Metro Deanery. He is a member of the Council of Priests.
Father Frank will begin his new assignment with us on January 1 and will be in residence by January 15. Please take a moment after Mass to greet and welcome our new pastor.

Auditions for Rodgers and Hammerstein's "The King and I"
January 10, 2009 from 10AM – 4PM in the Hyland Center
Show dates are April 24th-26th and May 1st-2nd, 2009
"The King and I" is based on the real-life story of Anna Leonowens, who travels to Siam to tutor the King’s children and in the process she and the King learn many lessons about each other as well. The score boasts of some of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s most beloved songs, including “Getting to Know You”, “I Have Dreamed”, and the show-stopper, “Shall We Dance”. To audition, please come prepared with sheet music or tracks to sing one short song; an accompanist and a CD player will be available. We will have cold readings from the script. All ages and ethnicities are encouraged to audition! We need lots of children - they just need to be old enough to learn a song and follow direction. Sign up by the front desk or e-mail Patty Guenthner at mole118@mindspring.com, or call (404)233-2145, X648.

Gifts

This year Monsignor had encouraged the stewardship committee to focus on increasing the number of pledges received in our annual stewardship of the treasure drive, Sharing God’s Gifts. Never a pastor to underestimate his flock Monsignor’s goal was no less than 100% participation.  Knowing all that we have comes from our heavenly Father, Monsignor encouraged us to share our gifts to grow His church here on earth.

Monsignor was passionate about stewardship, not so much the quantity of money, but the quantity of your commitment. What were you willing to give back to our God in terms of your commitment of time, talent and treasure?  Do we indeed put God first in our list of priorities, or is He merely an afterthought.  If you have not done so already please fill out your pledge card and return it today.

A pledge card can be downloaded here

Giving Together as Stewards
Each year we come together, united in our Catholic faith, to live the call to stewardship. We generously give from the blessings we have received. Many of us demonstrate our dedication and sacrifice in supporting the stewardship appeal through the annual pledge.

Our Cathedral Church
to pray and celebrate the sacraments

We give to provide for the Cathedral Church where we come together to pray and celebrate the sacraments. The Cathedral stands as a guiding light, a symbol of inspiration and hope.

Our Cathedral Ministries
to share our blessings with those in need

We give to support the Cathedral ministries; encouraging them to continue serving others in need, teaching the word of Jesus Christ and passing on our ideals of love and service to our youth. We create disciples to help lead people to the truth, while making them aware of their need for a personal and intimate relationship with Jesus Christ.

The Wider Catholic Church
to reach out and make a difference

We give to the wider Catholic Church to strengthen the overall Catholic community. We reach out to support those ministries and the good works coordinated by the Archdiocese of Atlanta. These include vocations to the priesthood, Catholic Charities, Catholic Social Services and mission development.

As disciples of Christ,
we give abundantly from our blessings
