Liturgy
Five ministries are needed to help facilitate the celebration of the Liturgy. Altar Servers are
responsible for assisting the celebrant, Lectors are responsible for proclaiming the Word of
God, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion for assisting in the distribution of Holy
Communion, Ushers for seating the congregation and taking up the collection, and Greeters
to welcome those coming to Mass. Training workshops are required.
Altar Servers (Adult)
The ADULT SERVERS are adults who wish to serve at the Lord’s table for occasional
liturgies in conjunction with other groups of Adult and Youth servers. Adult servers
are responsible for their own black cassock and white surplice. Contact: Fr. Neil

The 7:00 ADULT SERVERS are a group of adults who normally serve at the 7 pm
Mass, and who are also employed throughout the year for special liturgies here at the
Cathedral. Adult servers are responsible for their own black cassock and white surplice.
Altar Servers (Youth)

These young ministers, boys and girls, 4th grade through high school assist the clergy in the
liturgy, including Eucharist, funeral, nuptial and liturgies.
Cathedral Flower Guild

The Cathedral Flower Guild will be responsible for planning the floral adornments for feast
days, holidays and other celebrations throughout the liturgical year.
Greeters

Greeters welcome those attending Mass, answering questions and extending hospitality.

At the 7:00 pm Mass, the community of Christ the King welcomes, in particular, those who
are new or returning to the faith. In order to embody the Christian spirit throughout the
Liturgy of the Word and the Celebration of the Paschal Mystery and at the reception that
follows Mass, this ministry needs the time and talents of parishioners who are willing to be
ushers, singers, musicians, greeters or provide hospitality. Certification is required prior to
serving as a Lector or Extraordinary Minister of Communion.

Wedding Guild

This group directs rehearsals and weddings as an aid to the wedding party and celebrant.
The Apprentice Guild assists members of the full-time Guild in their ministry and is open to
all high school students.
