Youth altar servers, boys and girls, assist the clergy in the liturgy including weekend Masses, funerals and weddings.  Children are eligible to train as servers at CTK if they are registered members of the parish, have received First Communion, and regularly attend Mass.  New servers attend 2 hour-long sessions of training in the fall.  They then serve as trainees through Easter, before becoming full/regular servers in the spring.  We have a large number of servers, so the commitment is approximately once every 5 weeks–but there are frequent opportunities to sub for others.  We do our best to schedule servers at their family’s preferred Mass time, but everyone takes a turn at other Masses as well.  Servers in 5th grade and above (and who have been servers for a full year) can elect to train as wedding and funeral servers.  And in the 8th grade, servers begin training as Lead servers, a role they assume in high school.

These young ministers, boys and girls, 4th grade through high school assist the clergy in the liturgy, including Eucharist, funeral, nuptial and liturgies.
