Pastoral Care Ministry

Bereavement Support Ministry
Contact: Patty Nichols, 404-267-3695
Ongoing support, resource referrals and counseling are offered to anyone experiencing grief,
whether due to death or some other personal loss. Healing Masses are celebrated in February,
May and August, presenting a grace-filled opportunity for continued support, healing, and
eventual closure. Each November former parishioners, family members, friends and care
receivers who died within the past year, are honored and celebrated at our "Annual Bilingual
Mass of Remembrance." Extraordinary Ministers, Lectors, Greeters and Ushers
needed Monday-Friday, usually in the morning, to join our Funeral Liturgy Team.

Card Ministry
Contact: Jan Riser, 404-267-3674
This ministry honors and remembers parishioners on special occasions. Cards are sent to
Senior Adults for birthdays, Valentines Day, Easter and Christmas. Get well cards and personal
notes are sent to the ill as well as cards which are sent to families of the deceased.
Volunteers needed.

An interfaith organization, supported by Christ the King parish, which recognizes and responds
to the needs of Senior Adults in our neighborhood community. Through its many
programs, LIFESPAN provides the opportunity to serve as a volunteer or to be served as a
Senior Adult.

From education on aging to medical transportation, from wellness screenings to the expansive
‘Lunch ‘N Learn’ program, from handyman services to the Day Club for Senior Adults
which offers respite care for families, or the ‘Faith in Action’ friends and neighbors program
which provides informal care-giving to care-receiving adults age 50 and older who have
social and/or physical needs, there is something for everyone! Volunteers and care receivers
always welcome!

Stephen Ministry
Contact: Patty Nichols, 404-267-3695
Stephen Ministry is a Christ-centered, confidential, one to one, listening ministry. Stephen
Ministers are lay parishioners trained extensively in the skills of Christian care-giving and
commissioned to minister to other parishioners whom are experiencing a personal crisis
(divorce, job loss, depression, death, illness, etc.) The Stephen Ministry training program is
held on Wednesday evenings for six months, followed by a minimum two-year commitment
to serve as a Stephen Minister. Please call us if you are interested in serving or if you
are in need of care.

Transportation Ministry
Contact: Meg Hearn, 404-267-3675
Drivers needed to assist parishioners with their transportation needs. ‘Provide-a-Ride’
involves occasional transportation service as needs arise, i.e., monthly Senior Adult luncheons,
medical appointments, errands, CTK activities, rides to Mass, etc. Also needed are volunteers
once a month on Sunday morning, to ride the Senior Adult Bus for 10:30 AM Sunday Mass
and assist riders.

Visitation Ministry
CK Buddy’s, Communion of the Sick, Ministry to the Homebound
Contact: Patty Nichols, 404-267-3695
The Eucharist and/or weekly visits are provided to the sick, the elderly and the homebound.
If you would like to ‘Adopt a Grandparent’ or be a ‘CK Buddy’ for a parishioner without
family, you can volunteer just one hour a week, day or evening, weekday or weekend.

Extraordinary Ministers are needed to serve Communion of the Sick to God’s people who
are homebound or shut-in.

Mass is celebrated at various Senior Adult Residential Communities and Assisted Living
facilities each month on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday mornings and afternoons. Volunteers
(and Eucharistic Ministers) are needed to assist with these Mass and Liturgy teams.
