Dear CKS Parents and Parishioners,
The security and safety of our children are always uppermost in our minds. We’ve been blessed for a number of years with an effective security system in place at the school and now the time has come to extend similar measures of protection for our students during our school Masses. The following steps are now in place for all future school Masses.
A former law enforcement officer has been retained to provide a police presence during school Masses. Also, beginning at ten minutes before the Mass, all doors with access to the sanctuary and to the Gathering Space will be locked. Only the double doors leading from the plaza along Peachtree Way will remain open and the new security officer will be located in this location. A second security guard will be located at the doors leading to the parish’s reception area to prevent anyone from taking either the elevator or the stairs to the Gathering Hall. As usual, teachers will be located around the church.
If you are planning on attending any school Mass in the future, please arrive ten minutes prior to Mass. If you are bringing a handicapped person to a school Mass, it will be very important to allow plenty of time to get in and seated before the ten minute mark.
It is an unfortunate sign of our times that such steps are necessary, but necessary they are if we are to provide a peaceful and safe environment where our children can join in the celebration of Mass.
God Bless You,
Fr. Frank McNamee
Pastor
