My Dear Friends in Christ,
December 24th, 2009
I welcome you to the Cathedral on this most holy feast. Whether this is your first Christmas at Christ the King, as it is mine, or whether our Christmas Masses have been part of your tradition for years, I offer you, with heartfelt joy, a holy place to come and worship the Newborn King.
Today, a weary world rejoices that the King of Kings has come – to live among us, in our homes and in our hearts. This tiny child has the power to change our world and change our lives. We, like the shepherds of two thousand years ago, can follow our hearts and discover the Christ Child. He can lead our world from sin and darkness, bringing peace and joy to all who choose to listen. As on that first Christmas, as Mary and Joseph made their long journey to Bethlehem, we now renew our own journey towards eternal life.
Our choirs sing of a silent night, a holy night, the night of our dear Savior’s birth. May this holy time bring you the peace of silence, the joy of happiness and the wonder of God’s presence among us.
Merry Christmas, gentle folks and may you receive every blessing in the New Year of 2010!
Sincerely in Christ,
